As precursors to dreamscape paintings, they explore the interplay between conscious and unconscious imagery, drawing from ancient symbols and personal dreamscapes. These works capture moments of transformation, reflecting the timeless cycles of growth and change that define both art and human experience.

Figurative Abstracts (Dream Carpets)

The substrate of this work is a smudged, non-intentional and meditative black&red painting; which is now only partially visible through the well-defined negative spaces of the final grey layers. The dynamics of visible and non-visible, sharp and blurry refer to the relationship between conscious and unconscious.

Over the past few months, I have been expanding my biomorphic hieroglyphics’ library with some new elements. One of these is the ‘tooth of wisdom’ which became one of my favourites. According to the Book of Symbols, teeth represent a kind of individual psychic mill where what’s too rough to take in directly can be ground up by conscious consideration, digested and metabolized. Furthermore, the intense gaze of one eye can represent a unity of vision in which the dualism of “inner and outer” sight feels resolved, as it is within the brain where light becomes another form of electrochemical energy. This “light of the mind” has been imaged as the “third eye”, the eye of Wisdom.
